Ovarian stimulation starts on the second or third day of menstruation. It takes 10-12 days. Patients come 3-5 times during this period. Injections were started on the second day and done around the belly very similar to insulin injections. Injections were done daily during this period. Patients called every 2-3 days and ovaries were checked with ultrasound to see the follicular growth which include oocytes inside. When the follicles reach a threshold size HCG injection was done which completes the oocyte maturation. Every time the patient comes to the clinic blood test was done for estradiole level which shows the follicular growth hormonally. Ovarian stimulation is important because the ovaries might be hyperstimulated or lower than expected oocytes might be retrieved. The starting dose and the follow-up should be done precisely and by an experienced IVF specialist.
