Myoma uteri, that is uterine fibroids are benign masses of the uterus. There are different types of myomas classified according to their localization in the uterus.

Submucous fibroids which grow into the inner cavity of the uterus may constrict the uterine cavity and contribute to infertility causing smaller room for the embryo to implant and also threaten the pregnancy continuation when occurred. Therefore, before commencing infertility treatment, those types of fibroids should be removed with hysteroscopy, which is a type of endoscopic operation.

Intramural fibroids growing within the muscular layer of the uterus do not directly cause infertility or miscarriage before reaching large sizes (>5-6 cm). It is appropriate to remove those intramural fibroids above 5-6 cm laparoscopically, which is an endoscopic operation.

Subserosal fibroids that grow out of the uterus do not cause infertility or miscarriage and it will be enough to follow their growth only.
